I was really happy with my results, I could definitely work on the run also. The swim was great, however I do believe I could have pushed myself harder. T1 went great! I had my shoes mounted on the bike and left without socks. Much nicer than having to spend time putting shoe on and skating across the parking lot. I did have some difficulty getting one foot in the shoe, but it only took a second to fix. The bike I pushed myself as hard as I could. I need to go faster I need more speed. No more missing the Saturday group ride. I was able to ride the full time in the drops, which made me happy. T2 was great, however I did have a hard time finding my spot. Probably wasted about 10 seconds looking for my shoes. Once I did, the transition went well, just slipped on my socks and shoes and visor and was ready to rock. The new shoes felt very good, so bouncy!! I did have a hard time with the start of the run. I have such difficultly with the start of the run. My heart was racing and just out of sync. DrQuirk caught up to me just in time to start pushing me however at the 1 mile water stop. I stopped and grabbed some water and he continued on. He remained within sight and was able to keep pushing me. At the turn around I started feeling better. I remembered my training of a higher rpm leg turnover and decided to try thing. It saved me, my heart rate dropped and then it was happy time. With a mile left, I was able to pick up my pace and finish strong. I gave everything I had, and was very happy with my results. I even earned some hardware, even though I didn't have the energy to go to the award ceremony. I definitely recommend the race. Great race course, Great people, and a pretty good food spread. Definitely will race it again next year. And I was only 5 minutes slower than the last place elite guy.

I really enjoyed this race. With lots of Landsharks there (Dave, Dobe, my buddy Frank Pulver...) and my wife and son there to cheer us on, it was great! I guss all the time out there on the Van Fleet trail pounding the pedals has paid off. Well, that and lots of running, strength training, swimming... wow... when do we find time to have a life??? Oh wait, Triathlon is our lives, I forgot! I had a great time and hope to race (and train) with more Landsharks soon!
