a breakthrough..... of sorts...
Tell me about a "breakthrough" you have had in training..... I have had a bunch of them, but I sorta had one last night at swim practice. I was wasted, just done. My arms and legs were so sore before I even started, I had been up since 4:10, run 8.5 miles, and I still had a stupid swim workout. I felt heavy and slow, but my wonderful YTri group would not let me cut my swim short (jerks!!). See I am just not fast at swimming, I can swim forever and I am very comfy in the water, but I am a jelly fish Anyways, the last thing on the workout was a 1x75 as fast as possible. I generously offered to time everyone else (I am sneaky like that!), I didn't want to see the number and know how slow I was. I was confident I would have the slowest swim time of ANYONE. My plan worked and they all set off to swim the 75. But then tragedy---- they finished and made me swim it ALL.BY.MY.MYSELF!! Backfire!! I did it after much cajoling and name calling and SHOCKER!! I did it in 1:08!! Olympic Swimmer pace? no, but I was right on target with everyone else!!! I hate racing, I hate testing myself against the numbers, I hate stepping on the scale... I FEAR failure way too much. Last night, I realized that all those things are good because sometimes instead of seeing "failure" you see progress and that is hella good for the soul!
Thanks YTri-ers!! You probably didn't even know how important that was for me, but it was! I have been doubting this race big time and now I have just a bit more confidence and that will make all the difference!

Congrats 1:08 is a pretty decent time. Was that the work out I did last week? It was a hard one.

You should see some of the other workouts. I think the person that planned this is a masochist. I have a 3 1/2 hour ride this weekend. That's just ridiculous.

Here is the plan that I am using. Not sure if you can see the whole plan without being a member.
