Egads! I think I'll either do Withlacoochie or Van Fleet on Sunday then...unless some folks want to meet at Southgate or Hollingsworth and do a separate ride???

I picked up a new tri bike so I am down for some trail riding, probably the Van Fleet, if the weather permits.

Don't be scared like Dawn; she makes stuf up in her head and it scares herself. Although she might be right on this one. Twisted Evil We are getting close to our season so we have stepped up the pace on Sunday's sorry. Always welcome the company on Tues though recently lost my training partner Wink . I'll probably do Van Fleet on Sunday, then...around 8 a.m...if it's not too chilly.

That sounds good to me. If it's chilly @ 8, I will push it back to 9 for me going out.

Excellent! It'll be tri-bike Sunday at Van Fleet! I'll wait for you all at 8...if you can't make it or if you're late, give me a buzz at 863-397-9229.

Any other takers? Mike???? One of the many Brians?

Yes I'm up for a ride. Some of us did Van Fleet last Sunday in the above mentioned wind. I think tomorrow will be more calm. Just for the sake of variety, maybe the Withlacoochee (sp?) trail might be fun this week. Beth didn't you say the trail is traffic free with bridges over the roads, etc...? Monkey is afraid of scratching his shiney new machine!!

Let me know when and where cause I'm up for it.

As for Withlacoochie, you go over one major road on a long, unpaved bridge (it's about 1/4 mile). I freak on it because that's how I fell off my bike years ago and busted my collarbone. You cross a few other streets like Van Fleet, but there is a nice water stop at the 25-mile mark (the water is CLEAR), and there are a couple of bathroom stops if I can remember. There are also a couple of little cafes along the path.

I love the trail because it winds around and there are a few slopes. It is, however, much further away from here, and it's hard to give people directions there if you don't know where the trailhead is.

I'm game for it NEXT week--maybe Brian Jones can join us for that.

As for this week, let's do Van Fleet...unless everyone is really itching for Withlacoochie.

The two slugs (Float and Monkey) will be riding at 9. It takes us old guys a little longer to get moving on Sunday morning.

Oh...I waited and waited and waited, then finally went on my chilly ride...alone...freezing. affraid It wasn't as much the temp as it was the wind...brrrrrr...

I don't know if waiting until 9 made a difference, did it? was it that much warmer an hour later? Did Float and Monkey have a more comfortable ride?

I'll be up for Withlacoochie next Sunday...but I hope not to be left at the altar again! Sad

Have y'all ever ridden the West Orange trail? I like it a LOT!! I think I am riding it Christmas morning or afternoon if anyone else is free that day. We are celebrating Christmas Eve this year....... If not, I am up for a ride the day after Christmas for those who don't have to work..... and I will ride wherever that day.

riding Withlacoochie Dec. 14

Post  mbbrad4d on Fri Dec 12, 2008 6:16 am

Let's plan to rendez-vous at the Publix on Route 98 and Marcum Road at 8:30 this Sunday. If anyone wants to come and is running late, bust me on my cell: 863-397-9229.

If you want to drive directly there, here are directions (we'll probably get there at 9-ish, depending upon how late people get to Publix):
